Overview

GAME: An interactive Fighting Fantasy text adventure.

Creator: Robert L. Kline Jr.

This is one of the first games I created on the used Tandy Color Computer my family was given. Once I found the manual on how to code in BASIC, I became obsessed with creating an interactive text game. I actually wrote out the entirety of a Fighting Fantasy book written by Ian Livingstone and made it into a computer game. Many long nights and manic hours went into this.

Feel free to download the game from the link above. I have added in DOSBox, which is an emulator that works on both PC and Mac. I have also added in step-by-step instructions on how to use the emulator to load and run the game.

Original story plot borrowed, from the book of the same name written by Ian Livingstone, by: ROBERT L. KLINE II

Yes kids, it's true. This game's plot is not totally original. Please don't hate me and if you do I'll understand. This is just a game I put together to teach myself something about programming, so excuse for not being absolutely original. I can't be sued because I am not selling this and also I have NO MONEY!!!!!!!

A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROGRAMS

The game needs all of these programs to run...
DUNGEON.BAT-Batch file that tells you what to do and loads BASICA
README.DOC--The documentation you are reading now.
Programs in DUNGEON
BASICA.EXE--Program needed to run game programs.
BASIC.COM---Program needed to run game programs.
RULES.BAS---Starting program of game.
TRIAL1.BAS--Game program.
TRIAL2.BAS--Game program.
TRIAL3.BAS--Game program.
TRIAL4.BAS--Game program.
TRIAL5.BAS--Game program.
TRIAL6.BAS--Game program.
TRIAL7.BAS--Game program.
BEG.PIC-----Graphics picture.
CASTLE1.PIC-Graphics picture.
RIP.PIC-----Graphics picture.
CHEAT.BAS---Program that gives your character special weapons and hints on the game.

As I have said, I am just teaching myself programming, so there will probably be some bugs in the programs. O.k., maybe there is no such person as Evil Joe. I tried to make it sound good, but all the program faults are mine. If you find any bugs just write to me about them and, if you wish, send your disk too and I will give you the debugged version. Isn't that so generous of me. Excuse me while I take a moment to cry over my goodness. There, I am done now.

If you want the password to the CHEAT.BAS program just write me. This program gives your character a choice of a special weapon that increases one of your statistics greatly and gives you hints on how to win the game. I must say that I really expect no money for this. All the long hours of programming while my fingers cramp up and scream in bone wrenching pain and all the hellish nightmares about colossol Godzilla-sized computer terminals attacking me and input variables the size of cars try to run me over are all for one thing, your entertainment.

P.S. You will know when you won the game when you see Harry The Happy Hopping Hobgoblin hopping around your screen. To exit to DOS just press CTRL+BREAK. Then type SYSTEM. This also goes for when you die and wish to end.

P.P.S. May the force be with you.
